Defective
So we love these puzzles but I think we clearly got a defective one. I have to keep it turned off most of the time because the noises go off for no reason. Also the wrong animal noise goes off sometimes when baby girl is playing with the puzzle. We still play with it just without sound turned on usually. I don’t blame the seller, we just got a dud!

Toddler loves it
Almost a year after we got it and my almost 2 year still like it, only downside is it have to be used in the light and sometimes that’s not enough so I use my cellphone flashlight.

Not what I expected.
I got this for my 18 month old son for Christmas. He LOVES anything with wheels.He likes the puzzle, but it’s glitchy.It’s seems that magnets trigger the sounds and it’s not specific to that particular piece. He also doesn’t have to have it in the puzzle slot for it to go off. Sometimes it goes off with no puzzle pieces in the vicinity; I find this a little unnerving, but it doesn’t seem to bother him.Also, when a sound is going off, it has to complete the sound before you can get the next piece to go off. If you slot the pieces before the sound is complete, it won’t go off at all. And with the magnets not specific for the piece and not having to slot it for the sound to go off, just hovering over the wrong slot will cause the wrong sound to go off and then you don’t have the right sound if you slot it before the wrong sound is complete.Overall, my son likes to play with it. It just wasn’t what I was expecting when I ordered it.

So cute
My toddler loves this puzzle, and I love the screen-free learning and entertainment. Her vocab and animal noise usage has improved with this. The paper is already peeling off on the edges, so not suuuuper durable, but I do like the wood feel. The animal noises also don’t always play when you set a piece down, so I have to wave them around and take them on and off to trigger the sound. Sometimes the puzzle goes off when nobody is playing with it, either!

Big hit!
This was a big hit with the 2 year old I gave it (and still is several months later). Just be sure to shut the puzzle off (on the back) because otherwise the battery runs down fast.

Cool but possessed?
This thing goes off by itself. No one will be near it and you’ll just start hearing dogs barking, pigs oinking, and roosters cock-a-doodling from the next room. Since I don’t live on a farm, I can say with 1000% certainty that it’s not a neighbor pig I’m hearing.It is cool when it works correctly and isn’t trying to freak me out. My son is speech delayed so I was looking for more toys/tools that can help me expose him to more words/animal sounds.

I put batteries in this puzzle and was so disappointed that the sounds for the animals do not work. I bought this on prime day for my daughters birthday and unfortunately the window has past to return or exchange it for a working one.

Be careful
Cute toy as usual from Melissa & Doug. But the animal sounds are random — most of them do not sound anything like the animal itself; a couple sound like an engine & a motorbike. Exercise caution with this toy & do not let your child use it unsupervised – some of the wood pieces were chipping off while my baby was playing with it or putting them in her mouth.

Great concept but stopped working after less than a year
We bought these to help my son talk more. I just tried it and it didn’t work. I replaced the batteries and it still didn’t work. I also checked the batteries and they were all good. This leaves me to believe the puzzle went bad. I bought two others at the same time and none of them are working.

Still going strong a year later
Excellent product. Appreciate the off/on switch on back.Light activated, turn it off if you don’t want any surprises with sound coming from it. I gifted it to a 2 yr old and she still loves it and plays with it a yr latereven though she has long ago gotten the puzzle part down easily. Can name all the instruments and pretends to play them.

One Sound Doesn’t Work
Bought this for my grandson, age 2.5 – he loves vehicles and their sounds. Unfortunately the board came slightly warped and the first piece he tried – the big boat didn’t make a sound. The rest worked, but he got frustrated having to wait for one sound to finish before putting in the next piece. Cute idea, but not the greatest quality.

Great puzzle, but half the sounds didn’t work
I marked down stars purely because one half of the puzzle doesn’t work. Only one side’s sounds work and the other half does not. It’s a great puzzle, but I’m disappointed the sounds don’t work because my two year old loves doing puzzles and hearing the sounds the vehicles make. I would have just bought a puzzle without sounds instead and spent less money instead of spending more when this one is partially defective. Otherwise, Melissa & Doug make great puzzles for toddlers.

Cute but sounds don’t work well
The sensors on these malfunction. They don’t always go off and sometimes they’ll go off randomly. I got the farm animal version and it didn’t work at all then after a few days it did but still randomly. Thought I got a faulty one but then I ordered the automobile one and also had the same problem, got an exchange and this one works better but still very messy. Guess it’s just a problem with the design.

Good idea, but medium execution
Nice puzzle pieces and the sounds are proper sound of the animal. They do not always sound which is confusing for my little one. Sometimes the sheep has the pig sound and the duck sound comes on for other animals. At first I thought I should return it then I received the zoo animal one which has the same problems.

Had greater expectations
In order to work properly the puzzle needs to be under A LOT of light. It took a while before we figured out what was wrong. Kept thinking the batteries didn’t work until we figured we need the puzzle to be under a really bright light. It is a sturdy puzzle, but truly not worth the price!!!

Great Puzzle
This is such a cute puzzle and my 2 year old loves it. Very durable and great quality as all Melissa and Doug products usually are! 😊The only thing I’ll say about it is that mine seems to be haunted 😳 because there are times where my son isn’t even home or in his room at all and I’ll be cleaning around the house and I hear the puzzle’s sirens going off multiple times. Haha. But thankfully it has an off switch on the back and I’ll just switch it off when that happens. 😄I definitely recommend this product, especially for occupational therapy uses. Just make sure you’ve cleansed your house. Lmao.All jokes aside. 5 stars hands down. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good quality but doesn’t work.
The puzzles had all the pieces, they were thick and made good but unfortunately only 4 animals made noise when the pieces were placed on the board. Really was hoping this would be a great purchase being my child is in love with animals and animal sounds. Quite disappointed with this purchase.
