Great quality as expected but consider changing the dolls
My 2.5 yo niece loves this doll house. It’s perfect for her. She plays with it every day. My only slight caveat is that I had to purchase black dolls since these are not culturally sensitive. Black or brown kids cannot relate to these in the least. They should consider making them look a little more relatable. They don’t have to be black but maybe with black hair or black eyes (and maybe a little more tanned skin) so others kids can relate to them instead of having yellow hair and blue eyes which is a very specific demographic.

Not packaged well enough. Not up to standards of M & D.
The doll house arrived with the corner damaged due to no padding in the mailing box. The surface of the house is like paper as apposed to paint. Not up to Mellissa & Doug usual standards. No way to latch doll house closed to prevent opening while carrying.

Good Quality/Disappointed that one of pieces of furniture is a t.v.
I was very disappointed that one of the 11 pieces of “furniture” with this set was a t.v. that was just a little square piece of wood with a frame drawn on it. I would have preferred something more active like a refrigerator or even a couch. Other than that, the set is as promised and has held up well. And, I agree with other reviewers – why is there not a clasp on the side? Without the clasp, I had to purchase a separate plastic bin to store all of the pieces (a complaint I have with almost all of my Melissa and Doug purchases). I purchased this 4 or 5 years ago, and it has helped up well. (I would also agree with another reviewer that neutral colors would have been preferred.) It would also be nice if Melissa and Doug sold a nursery set to fit this dollhouse. I bought a different brand to go with it but the pieces are a little too big.

EXCELLENT VALUE
We bought this for our 3 year old grandson, knowing how he loves to play. Heck, his apple slices at lunch have conversations. When it first arrived i was a little dismayed at how pink it is, but he doesn’t know his colors, nor which color is supposedly for whom.I also bought the Melissa & Doug car and a box of Melissa & Doug people. The house comes with two people, the car with 5, and the box has 8. So we are covered up with people. While we expected him to like it, we are SHOCKED at how much he is enjoying it. He has been playing with the thing for hours today. He is having a blast. We personally appreciate that two of the little people are gray-hairs, representing us, Nana and Papaw. Thank you, Melissa & Doug, for continuing your fine tradition of quality, affordable, simple toys.

Came damaged
Read other reviews stating it came damaged. Gave it a shot. Received a damaged house. The two doors aren’t glued together anymore (I zip tied it together for a quick fix) & the little table also fell apart. Seems like it was built & assembled haphazardly. Despite the damages my toddler loved it. Lol

Great toy
This is a great doll house. I loved that it was not plastic but wood. This will make it so durable. My grandduaghter of two (2) loved it! The drawbacks is there was nothing to secure the house when you want it closed to keep all the parts in when traveling or storage. If the child picks it up by one of the handles it will fly open and all will fall on the floor–does a 2 year old always think “now pick it up by two handles so it stays shut.” Within a couple hours already one piece of furniture was lost because it kept opening in transit. The other drawback is the inside floors to put the furniture on are so shallow the furniture barely fits in. But all in all, it’s a great little toy for a 2 year old. If they were older it wouldn’t be a good dollhouse because there are not a lot of details or items and probably would not hold the attention of an older child.

Cute but not perfect
The house itself is adorable. It is really not sturdy at all, which makes it lightweight but easy to collapse. The house arrived with a few spots already damaged. The little people are my daughters favorite part. I was hoping to have it set up in her room for a few years but I don’t think it will make it past a year.

2 year old granddaughter Loved dollhouse as Christmas gift
My granddaughter wakes every day and goes to this doll houses first thing to play with it. It is the perfect size for a 2-3 year old, although I am sure older children might like too. It is not so big that it is overwhelming, she loves the dog/animal accessory that I purchased to go with it. The convenience of packing it all up under one roof is priceless. Good buy, good price…great Christmas or birthday gift for a little girl just starting to play with doll houses.

A great starter doll house
A great starter doll house. I wish it would have included a few more furniture pieces, it doesn’t quite feel complete. I ordered some additional dolls, from Kidcraft, and they are a bit too big for the house. I’m hoping they will fit better when we upgrade to a larger wooden doll house. The house itself feels sturdy, but I wish there was a latch to hold it shut for moving it. (Holding both handles at the same time should help, but a latch would feel more secure).

Great gift for my Niece
I got this dollhouse for my niece for Christmas. It was perfect. She is was completely excited to have a dollhouse and this one is small enough that is doesn’t make you wonder where on earth it is going to be stored but big enough to still feel like a real dollhouse. My niece especially loved the bathtub and toilet. She is in the middle of potty training right now and kept taking the mommy doll up to the bathroom to go potty, it was priceless. The house itself is durable as are all Melissa and Doug toys making it a toy that will last more than a few hours of rough play. So excited that i finally opted on this house instead of a plastic one.

Fun Dollhouse for Toddler
My 17 month old is still a little to young for this dollhouse. The people frustrate her because she can’t quite make them sit in the chairs, etc. But she loves playing with her farm animals in it! And cracks up when she brings them in and out the door. I can tell as she gets older this will get lots of playtime! The people are smaller than the Melissa and Doug family of seven.

Great bargain! Sturdy, nice wooden toy!
This is a great dollhouse! Awesome quality, especially given the price. It has great little wooden furniture pieces, and 2 wooden/fabric people. Nicest little wooden doll house you can find for this price, that is for sure! Very impressed. It feels very solid. Reminds me of the little plastic fisher price one I had as a kid, but I like the wood feel a lot better. It has a nice solid/sturdy hinge that connects the 2 pieces of the house, and the front door opens/closes quite nicely. Would totally buy again or recommend it. My 1 year daughter loves it, as does my 3 and 5 year old that like to help her set it up.

Perfect dollhouse
I purchased this dollhouse for my 2.5 year old for Christmas and she loves it. And it was exactly what I looking for too. So far, I have no cons. It is small enough for her to carry around from room to her on her own and not take up too much space. It is made of durable, good quality wood and not plastic. It is so cute. The front door opens and closes and when you open the house it has four rooms total (upstairs and downstairs). It comes complete with furniture for each room and a guy and girl, which are bendable. Also, I am potty training my daughter and she put one of the little dolls on the toilet and says “It’s time to go potty…good job!” So as a bonus it acts as a nice role playing/ toilet training aide. Overall, this is the perfect dollhouse for our family.

great little toy
I got this on sale for $73.48 and spent about $73,48 more to upgrade it. It’s the perfect size for Calico Critters. The dolls that came with it were astonishingly poor quality and hideous. They went straight into the trash. Everything else is very sturdy and I love it! I just wanted it to be cuter so gave it a make over which was easy and a lot of fun for me.I got brick red and dusky rose spray paint, cream craft paint, contact paper for the floors, and wood glue from Walmart.Ivy and gingerbread trim from Hobby Lobby.I had some wrapping paper to use for cut outs and wall paper which I modge podged on.My husband found the little gold latch (I don’t know what the company name was but there are some here on sahcreatives too). The ivy is attached with tiny fasteners that my husband had for his job (from Home Depot). He snipped them down smaller for the dollhouse. This is for our 3yr old’s Christmas this year and I’m so excited I could cry. Doll houses are expensive even for crappy ones. This was such an affordable option.

Huge hit with granddaughter!
This is perfect for a young, small child’s first doll house. It is easily carried using the handles and the play possibilities are endless. She is 5 and her excitement was wonderful to see when she opened the box and saw it for the first time. Bonus is that her younger (3 year old) brother enjoys it also. Should be a good lesson in sharing as well as pretend play. I’m thrilled with the product and how much pleasure it is giving. Melissa and Doug was the first logo she recognized. She considers that a mark of fun things!

Great gift but missing one important feature
I loved this little wooden house!! I would buy again, HOWEVER it should have a latch to keep dollhouse closed. It’s perfect size to travel to gmas house but will open. So with a little creativity(which should of been thought of) you can add your own. I bought a large clear cosmetic bag to stow accessories that fits perfectly inside…when it stays closed. I feel it was a great find. I would give it 10 stars if it had a latch!!!! You won’t be disappointed if you are into wooden toys

Good, sturdy, and cute dollhouse for small spaces or for those who don’t want a giant dollhouse
We bought this for our 3 1/2 year old, and she is enjoying it so far (just a few days). The parts seem very sturdy and they are cute too. No frills, but cute pieces for each room of the house. My mom bought her the Melissa and Doug Wooden Family Doll Set to go with it, and after seeing both separately, we were worried the people in that set wouldn’t fit. They do fit, but just a few more centimeters on the biggest ones, and they’d be too big. They are almost too tall for the upstairs since the roof angles and cuts off the ceiling/standing space, but it’s fine. They are too long for the bed and bathtub, but they fit fine in the chairs, so I think it’s fine. She doesn’t mind if they are a little too long. (I will include pictures so you can see in case you wanted to buy additional people for this set.) The two people who come with the house are cute and bendable, just like the ones in the additional set. They two that come with it look like two adults but then if you get the additional set, they are much shorter, so they can become children in the family. We are ordering the Plan Toy Doll House Nursery set to go with this based on pictures that another reviewer posted. I’m not 100% convinced by the pictures that the pieces will fit in this house correctly, but it might be close enough to work. She can play with them on the table surface if not, but I’ll try to post pictures of that once it arrives in case you’re considering the same thing. The only negative I can think of on this doll house is maybe the second floor ceiling space where the roof cuts off some of the standing space. I don’t think it will bother my little one a bit, and to have a relatively inexpensive and small but cute dollhouse, I’m willing to deal with that issue.

Well made, cute dollhouse.
This little doll house is adorable. It is really well made and cute. It feels solid, and durable but it’s not too heavy for a child to carry around. I bought it for my 13 month old daughter to play with and grow with. I liked the idea that it folds shut so that we can take it to grandma’s house and also everything just goes inside when it’s not being played with. This feels like the quality that dollhouses were when I was a kid in the late 70’s early 80’s. It’s not thin or cheesy feeling at all. I think this is something that we can keep and pass down to my grandkids as well. I also like that it comes with two dolls that are bendy and quite a bit of furniture for the price. Some reviewers mentioned rough edges but I ran my fingers all over the edges and didn’t find any splinters or anything that would hurt my daughter’s fingers. It is made of some type of wood that is pressed together in layers as you can see in the pictures I added, but it is really a nice toy. So far the house and its hinges seem to be holding up well My daughter knocked it down between a table and the wall and it opened up when it fell wedged between, I thought for sure the hinge would have broken but it was just fine when I picked it up. The furniture is also really solid and well made with cute little details. My daughter loves the fact that the little doors on the kitchen sink swing open and closed which is a nice little added feature. My daughter has not lost interest in this house yet, she still plays with it every day.

Good starter dollhouse and a fun (time consuming) project!
I love Melissa and Doug products, and on sale this was very reasonably priced for my 2 year old! I didn’t like the color scheme, so like a few other reviewers, I gave it a more chic upgrade. I wish they had other color options, because it took me FOREVER to coat this with enough paint to cover the original bubblegum pink and dark purple. In terms of the actual house, here are my thoughts:Pros:Small and easy to storeGood for younger childrenThe inside is a clean, wooden base to be creative withRelatively lightweightAffordableCons:Came with obvious defects such as being misaligned at the seam (see third picture), messy looking glue clumps, and splintered woodBecause of its size, not a lot of room for different furniture layoutsNo latch to close the house when being carried (swings open far too easily)Furniture won’t stay positioned if carried throughout the house

Great little house!
I love the simplicity of this little wooden house! Perfect size furniture and figures for small hands. I was disappointed that it included only two figures, but the headline states it includes four figures. I didn’t notice down the page in the detailed description that it states it includes two figures. This really should be corrected in the main short description that pops up initially. I was impressed also that the two figures included are a good scale for the house. I purchased another dollhouse recently that the the figures included would not even fit into the rooms. These do and I’m thrilled. Overall, this was a great purchase. I only wish it had included four figures as described at the top of the page, this only four stars overall.

One Really Great Toy
I strongly recommend this item.. have bought this a couple of times for kids in my family. It is very well made (though a little basic), but as others have pointed out, you can paint or add on details of your own to customize it with no problem. Also, there are a number of other makers of this type toy who make furniture of varying detail and price, as well as various family groupings of every type. I can not say enough about the quality and play value of most of what the “Melissa & Doug” toy company make. If you like the doll house… check out the castles they make and the figures that go with them… the only negative thing I can say about their products is, I wish they made a bigger variety of figures for the castle sets… may be a separate set of knights and soldiers.. maybe a wizard, witch, or fairies? Bottom line, great product and play value for price. with plenty of up-grade options.

Beautiful, STURDY dollhouse. Perfect for toddlers.
Love this dollhouse! Melissa & Doug cannot go wrong. I’ve seen it before in resale stores but passed it up (sadly) now it’s my daughters 3rd birthday and I really wanted to get her a new dollhouse thats a good size for her, and sturdy. This dollhouse is solid, and i love that. As soon as you open it you can tell that it will hold up very well. It comes with little people, and furniture. There is a handle on the top, but like others have said, there is no latch to hold it closed. This would definitely be an issue for a toddler carrying it with all of furniture inside, because unless you know how to hold the handles correctly, (both of them, tight) it will open. Not so much of an issue through unless you’re traveling, (which in that case I recommend putting the furniture/people in a large ziplock so they don’t all fall out). This was not a major issue for me though, because the dollhouse is great quality and I know my daughter will love it.It’s the perfect size for toddlers & younger children, big enough with enough detail to capture & hold their attention, but also small enough to put away. Overall, I love it and I’m sure my daughter will too once she opens it on her birthday 🙂

After 9 mo this house is still standing
My 5 year old loves this dollhouse. We have had it for about nine months now and it gets played with nearly everyday. It came with some furniture and a couple of dolls but we added the Melissa and Doug family as well. We also play with Calico Critters in it.This is sized perfectly for carrying around the house and all of the pieces fit inside. It gets carried around a lot. Last week it was tossed off the top bunk and the hinge pulled out of the wood, but I was able to fix with a hammer and some wood glue. I can’t believe it has lasted as long as it has considering my kids and the amount of use we have gotten out of it! When it does finally die, I’m sure we will get another. There are some toys that are astonishingly worth having. Toys that get played with over and over for years. Toys that last through hard use. Toys that span age ranges. In our house I count the Thomas train set, Legos, and this house as my top three toys. (I have six daughters)

Very happy with my purchase
So cute. I spent a considerably amount of time trying to decide between dollhouse and barns for my daughter’s second birthday. I thought this would be the perfect sized dollhouse for such a young age but really didn’t want pink (I disagree with gender specific toys) and was weary of the many reviews talking about poor construction. I am very happy with my purchase, it is the perfect size for a two year old, she loves to carry it around. The furniture is cute, functional and seems durable. We have not had any quality issues, don’t feel we need to install a latch as many others suggested and actually think the pink is pretty cute. Although I really hope M&D will consider making a neutral toned house (wood, red, yellow?) it should definitely come with a baby, and doesn’t. The unfortunate thing is that M&D doesn’t seem to make any dolls or furniture that will fit this set. They have doll families for purchase but it seems they are much larger. I ordered the plan toys nursery set to go along with the house. The baby fits in perfectly. The furniture is big, certainly not to scale but will fit in the house. My daughter uses the baby set with the house more than the other furniture. I would recommend adding that set to your purchase.

I would recommend
I bought this for my 2 year old grand daughter. She was thrilled and so were her parents. It is durable and the perfect size. I liked it because it is portable and she can keep the doll’s furniture inside the house and there is a better chance of keeping all the items together. The inside is a not painted, however I liked this. When she gets older, she can color, paint or put stickers to decorate to her “style”. I wished the house had a latch on the side – it is likely that when picking it up it could pop open. Her dad is going to figure out some kind of latch – so really no big deal. I would recommend this item. Thanks Melissa and Doug..!

Love Melissa & Doug toys for a number of reasons including usually being really well built. Not sure what happened with this one. My daughter loves it by it it did come with a roof already chipped under the cellophane. Also the handles were sloppily glued with excess glue on the roof. I’d send it back for a replacement but those blemishes aren’t going to get in it out of my daughters hands. She loves it. I should mention this is the first time I’ve bought their stuff on sahcreatives too. We usually get it and target. Our driver was very cautious with it though (at least as far as the doorbell footage shows.) But the house was only in a bag. No cardboard which has to have been the cause of the roof splitting as it’s a main corner that would take damage in a fall.

Great play house.
My daughter got this doll house as a present from a good friend. She loves it so much that I bought one to give as a present to one of her friends. Great little house. It is easy to move around and a 5 year old can move it and take it in a short trip without taking a lot of space. The small furniture the comes with is is cute and simple.

Pleased
I purchased this dollhouse for my (then) 22 month old niece as a Christmas gift. As she was in that “transitional age” at the time I did not want to get her a baby toy she would outgrow quickly, but I also did not want to buy her a dollhouse intended for an older child that would big enough for her to fit inside! 😀 Even though this is recommended for three and up, I have worked in a childcare center for many years and thought this would be exactly what I was looking for. SHE LOVED IT! (perhaps not for every 22 month old – only you know the intended recipient best!) This dollhouse is the perfect size for smaller children, but can grow with them for several years. It is definitely quality constructed. The only minor complaint I have, is that there is no latch on the outside to hold the two sides together for transport. However, it does have a handle on each side that aids in the house staying closed when carrying.

Good, sturdy product. Main gripe: Lacks a latch
Bought this for my three and a half year old and she loves it. The house is sturdy and the two people it came with are adorable. However, it lacks some sort of latch to keep the house closed. One has to be very careful moving it otherwise the house opens and everything spills out. Also, would have gotten an extra star if it had working windows instead of the painted on ones by the sides of each opening. Even if it were only the two front windows.

Cheap materials – disapointed
I thought this dollhouse would be okay for my 2 year old because the reviews overall were pretty average. We didn’t have a big budget for new toys but she needed something more appropriate for her age. She really loves it when we all sit down together and play with the toy, which is great cause she’s having fun. But she also has just as much fun with paperclips and solo cups. The wood itself is so poor quality, I would never buy this again. I would MUCH rather spend a few extra dollars on a better quality, handmade toy. You can tell this toy is manufactured in China, the wood itself is dry, flimsy, and not put together well. After just a few days, the table broke right in half while we were playing with it, I’m not even sure how since we weren’t playing rough with it at all.So overall, its an okay toy. I really like my kids’ toys to be made from good quality wood that is safe to play with, and this is not one of those. The dolls are cute, she actually plays with those more than the house. I would recommend the dolls separately.Buy this if you don’t care about quality or if you discard your toys after a while anyways. Definitely won’t last long. Disappointed.

Inspires The Imagination!
My daughter is almost 3 and she LOVES this toy! She immediately started making up tasks for the dolls to do. She talks to the dolls and creates stories for them – all out loud. It’s so funny to listen in! She’s even named the dolls – Princess and Boy! Funny! The dolls are the perfect size for her little hands. They are somewhat posable too – their arms move and their legs bend so they can sit and it’s easy enough for a toddler to pose the dolls on their own. The furniture that comes with the house is cute and plenty enough to keep her busy! The only thing I don’t like about the dollhouse is the lack of a latch on the outside of the house. It’s hard for Serenity to carry it without everything dumping out. AND if you’re traveling with it, you’d have to make sure it doesn’t fall over and everything comes tumbling out. I’ll probably buy a tiny latch and install it myself to take care of the problem. But overall, it’s a great toy that will probably last a long time. I didn’t want another piece of plastic that lasts around a minute and does nothing to inspire Serenity’s imagination.

It’s cute enough
It’s a cute toy, but my three year old daughter plays with her Fisher Price Loving Family dollhouse more. I’m not sure why she prefers that house over this one. A few of the furniture pieces have broken (bed and a dining chair), but that’s to be expected with children’s toys when they accidentally get stepped on. I don’t fault anyone for that.If I had it to do all over again I would still purchase this item. I think my daughter will play with her dollhouses more as she gets a bit older. Right now she tends to take her dolls over to her brother’s Imaginext buildings instead. They are flashier and have lots of traps doors and such, where this toy is nice and simple (and quiet).Overall, it’s an adorable set. I have been eyeing the Melissa & Doug castle as well…
