10/10 – Makes learning fun!
My 4 year old loves playing his fish game! We don’t pay much attention to the levels of difficulty, mostly because he wants to cycle through all of the colors. But he can usually figure out a few, and we have so much fun while he learns the rest (making the “cold” fish shiver, singing when we pick up “sing”, etc). There’s a great variety of words to keep kids interested, and the fishing poles are very small-user friendly. This is a wonderful way to introduce and encourage a passion for reading.

Read fishing
So I say the word and have my kiddo fish it out! Start with level 1 for about two weekends then move on! Give them time to read! Spell it out! Make a sentence! Ask if it’s a period at the end or a question mark

wooden toys are best
I ordered this because I thought I’d have fun playing it with them. I like the way it will help them to recognize words, and even create sentences with them. It’s the kind of toy that is never the same twice.

Game turned out to be so much FUN
The media could not be loaded.
This game was so cool to play. I loved it and my son loved it as well. I thought that he wouldn’t take to it because it was basically learning sight words and we did let him call out some of the words and my husband and I took turns this little fishing game. Sight word became a challenge and we were challenging each other in which was great of who could get the most words. This game has bright colors and definitely gets the kids attention. It was great to play . I love doing this on the weekends. What a great way to incorporate sight words and to get the child excited. We also made each other. Whoever picked the word had to spell it as well.

Cute Sight Word Game!
I got this game for my 1st grade classroom. My students were so excited! The magnets on the fishing pole and the sight word fish worked great so my students were able to play this game easily. They would catch a fish, read the word, then keep the fish if they read it correctly. This game is a huge hit in my classroom!

Solid build!
Really fun for my resource students who are learning sight words. The items in the box are nicely laid out, and there’s sight words to practice for days. We found it’s easier for kiddos to hook them if they’re turned upside down. We just have kids grab a fish and say the sight words.

Kids will not notice they are learning because they are having so much fun!
I could not resist ordering the wooden magnetic fishing sight words game because I knew my students would enjoy it. The Coogam game includes 220 magnetic fish on five levels, four wooden fishing poles and a drawstring bag. I like that there are a variety of sight words and I can have individual students play with the words they need to learn or review. This game engages children in learning words by sight without them noticing because they are having so much fun.

Fun & Educational Fishing Toy
This fishing toy works well. The fishing pole magnets aren’t super strong, but they can pick up 1 fish easily. I like that it comes with a bag to keep toy in.

Educational
This is great for learning sight words. I like when my kids play games because it so much better than staring at a screen. This was a very fun game for my kids. They really enjoyed it. It kept their interest. I really like that it gets them playing with others. It is great for them to play with each other or with us. We like to have family game nights. This game wasn’t too hard for them to learn. The quality was very good. It held together fine. I really think it’s a lot of fun for them. I also like to give games as gifts. I would recommend this one.

Great game upto age of 5 years
This is a fun game for toddlers. The wooden fishes feel well made, and the fishing rod is cute although seems to be not quite as “finished” as the fish. It’s a great game to learn colors and numbers and practice hand-eye coordination. I wish flash card would have came laminated so that kids don’t rip apart.

Fun Way to Review Sight Words!
I have really enjoyed this activity with my six year old son. It’s been wonderful for him to practice the sight words he’s learned in school without feeling like he’s doing “work.”Overall, the game has been thoughtfully designed & it’s made of quality materials. The fish are color coded by level of difficulty. Red, which is the first color in a rainbow, is the easiest level, then orange & so on. There are cards that list all the words for each color. This makes it really easy for a parent to work at the appropriate level with their child. The magnets are strong & I was surprised by how many fish are included. Plus, everything is packaged by color & it comes in a storage bag. You can simply take out the color you’re working on & leave the rest in the bag.My only complaint is I don’t see the fishing poles lasting as long as the fish, but that’s an easy fix because any magnets should work fine. As a former teacher, this is a good gift.

Love the concept but…
I really love the concept of the game. It’s made really well. The magnets weren’t loose. The paint didn’t rub off and the edges were smooth. There weren’t any issues with the words printed on the fish. My son enjoyed “catching” the fish and telling me the words that he knew.My issue is with the grade levels. Examples:Level 1 (Pre-K/4K) has several 5-6 letter words in it.Level 4 (2nd grade) has 2-3 letter words that should be in level 1-2. (OR, OFF, US, and SIT)Level 5 (3rd Grade) has 2-3 letter words that should be in level 1-2. (HOT, IF, TRY, SIX, and TEN)My son is in a 4k program and they are learning words with 2-3 letters in them not 5-6 letter words. I think the words should be grouped by the number of letters instead of the randomness that they decided for each grade level. I actually separated all of the fish by the number of letters in the words and it has made it so much more enjoyable for my son.

My students love this game!
The moment my students saw this game on my desk started getting excited and asking if they could play. There are so many great things about this game. For example, because there aren’t any rules, at the start of each game my students discuss how they are going to play, if one of them is going to be the “card caller”, if they time individuals, etc. I get to assign students to the different levels depending on their reading or writing skills.CONS: One thing that I wish was added to the box is individual “calling cards”, so I’ve had a teacher assistant write the words on flash cards matching the color of the “word list cards” and the different 5 levels. This way students who are not sure about the spelling get to see the word as it’s being called.Because there are 5 different levels, and I’m using this with more than 4 students at a time, it would have been great that it came with more than just 4 fishing poles, or at least that you could buy extras. There wasn’t a draw-string bag included in this box, and once you take things out, it’s very difficult to fit everything back in it, so now I have everything categorized by levels and color in plastic zip bags and out of the box.So with these cons, you might wonder why I still give this 5 stars. Well, because I’ve decided to focus my review on the quality, functionality, and creativity of the game, and how much fun my students are having while learning.

Great game
We will definitely be using this game for several years. I got it for my 4 year old. They’re just starting sight words in Pre-K, and we are only using a handful of words so far. The fish pieces are made with strong, firm wood, and the paint is bright and uncracked. The fishing poles are easy to use, and the magnets are strong. We’ve had lots of fun playing, and it’s really helped him to learn the words in a fun, relaxed environment.

Great for learning
I will start by saying I am a homeschooling mama of 2 and my oldest (6) is working on reading skills and she is halfway proficient in reading and can read level one books so this game is a wonderful learning tool to help her out without needing a whole lot of instruction or input from myself. She likes games and sometimes she can get easily distracted if something isn’t challenging her enough but this holds her attention for a fair amount of time and she is learning words. The game is pretty self-explanatory in my opinion so the “instructions” are pretty sparse but the game is actually very well made and it all comes with a nice felt-type bag to put all of the stuff in at the end of the game. I would highly recommend this…it’s a fun learning game that helps kids learn words and basic phonics.

Great game
Helps with learning sight words. My kid is the type who doesn’t seem to retain info unless it’s presented in a fun way. He was falling behind on his sight words but this game has helped keep him up to date with the rest of his class. He’s enjoying fishing and I’m enjoying that he’s learning.

Great but had to adjust a little
This came with ALOT of words on different levels which I love. This has been great for homeschool for my excellent kindergarten speller and my struggling 4th grade speller. They are both great readers. We did make a trip to Hobby Lobby to make some new poles. The poles that came with it are extremely tiny. Now the kids can sit on the couch and actually pretend to fish. My struggler is a visual learner so this has been great for him. He catches the fish, reads it, closes his eyes and writes it in the air, and then spells it out again.Posted a picture of the side by side comparison of the poles. The one that came with it is probably only about 6”. Not useful at all.

5 fish colors but 4 rod colors
The fish come in 5 colors (purple, blue, red, orange and green) but the rods come in only 4 colors (blue, red, orange and green), so no purple rod to match the purple fish. This is very disturbing kids when they want to match colors!

My five year olds loves to fish for words
My youngest woke me up early the other day wanting to go fishing. I told him it wasn’t fishing season and to him back to bed. He smacked me in the back of the head with the pole and ran off. I got up to go and have a few choice words with him about the dangers of walking in to a bear’s den while it’s hibernating and hitting it with a stick and he was sitting on the ground in front of all these word fish holding two poles, smiling at me. I sat down and we played with it for a couple hours I think. Lost all track of time. My seven year olds got up and played with us too. It’s a fun way to teach or learn.

Great for a wide range of ages
I have five children ranging in age from 3 to 10, I’ve been working a lot with my first grader and kindergartners on their letters in sight words, and as soon as I saw this game, I knew it would be a fantastic way to learn, and have fun at the same time. The pieces are really quality made in the printing on each word is very clear. The maggots are strong, and the colors are divided up into skill level categories. This is also really helpful when playing with more than one child at a different skill level so they can each be assigned a color and you don’t have to change the game at all for anyone to play. That only is a great game to have at home, but would also be a wonderful gift for a classroom as well

FUN! Educational!
Our 3, 6 and 8 year olds ALL loved playing with this. The youngest mostly enjoyed sorting the colorful fish and catching them with the magnetic rod. The older kids played the game as intended fishing for the specific word that was called out. They were proud of their expertise with sight words and working out the phonics for the words they didn’t know yet. There are different color fish for different skill levels to avoid frustration. This is a table game with small fish and short rods. The sizes are spelled out in the pictures included in the description. It’s very unusual for a game to hold the attention of all three! Very highly recommended!

The best!
My 6 year old is struggling with reading this year in school, so I grabbed this game hoping that his competitiveness would be beneficial here by turning reading into a game.It worked! They have to fish for each word you read out, you can tailor it based on how you want them to play the game. Like take turns in a circle, or both search at the same time, so on. Theres multiple reading levels, and they come separated already. The magnets are on point. Shipping was So so fast, I got it for use during Thanksgiving break hoping it would make it here in time. It got here before I expected. It was packaged well, and im really happy with the product!

These are a huge hit!
My kindergarten students love when I pull these out. Sometimes we play as a class and take turns, but most times I use it in centers or indoor recess. They always have to read and write the word. My advanced ones write a sentence with the word. There has not been any issues with the product.

Perfect for sight word practice
These little fish are nicely made. they are separated in to levels by color. all together the 5 levels contain over 200 words. With so many words available, a large portion of the words in my kids curriculum are in this set which will make reviewing words easy and fun.The magnets are decent, but weak. The fishing poles can only pick up one fish at a time. The magnets are not strong enough to cause repulsion between the fish either.Very happy with the product.
