Solving His Storage Problem
These were a great solution to one of his storage problems. After having his initial attempt to store his excess lumber with L shaped shelf brackets ( they failed) he ordered these and they work wonderfully. He really liked the ease of installing and the fact the arms swing up when not needed.

Will the top rack hold?
I’m skeptical that the retaing rods will actually prevent the rack arms from folding down and dumping everything. Even worse, the retaining rod for each top rack arm cannot fully seat as the mounting bolt is in the way.I will wire the retaining rods in place as I’m past the return window. If the manufacturer had positioned the hole for the mounting bolt only a few milimters down, the retaining rod could seat. Also, the functional height of each shelf is only about 5 inches.Good luck!

good rack
I got this to use on the side of my shed for storing extra lumber. I have a small hobby farm and there is always extra lumber around from various projects. This does a good job but I’d be leery of loading it up real heavy because it isn’t quite as hefty as I’d like. Holds enough for me though.

Heavy Duty
I have the Grizzly version of this rack. I like this one better. The Grizzly requires you to assemble the rack before mounting the cross bars. If you don’t do everything in the right order, you gotta start over again. The Grizzlies also use these standoff things behind the rack. They are a little clumsy to install. With this set, you mount the verticals and then add the cross bars. With these racks, the cross bars can be folded down if you don’t have anything stored on them. Once I get them loaded up, I can’t imagine that they will every be empty so….The mounting hardware that these come with is super heavy duty. These do pretty much what I think they should. There are others out there for a little less, but I haven’t tried them so I can’t say these are worth the extra couple of buck. Typically, I give four stars to products that meet expectations. These are solid four star products.

One small design flaw
My expectations were pretty low, so I was pleasantly surprised with these racks. The thing that keeps them from being a 5-star is that the top rung can’t be installed properly due to the placement of the mounting lag bolt. The mounting bolt is right in the way of the locking pin for the top rung on each of the racks. I was able to modify the bolt placement with a drill, but this should have been caught in the QA phase of this product.I am using three of the racks about two feet apart on the back wall of my garage to hold lumber. The metal of the racks is a little thin, but I can still comfortably put 10 or so 2×4’s on each level. This is a good system to get your lumber off of the floor, but just be aware that you’ll need to drill a few extra holes.

Dont bother!
You get what u pay for. I went with this option because it was cheaper than some other racks I previously purchased. Figured their all the same, WRONG! The package arrived 3 days late and all busted up. There was more tape than cardboard. No parts for assembly we included. Used some bolts I already had to attach pieces together. Once assembled I realized that the arms are slanted past 90 degrees. Be careful if you use these, your boards might slide off due to angle of support bars.

Easy Set Up
REVIEW: Ronlap Lumber Storage Metal Rack, Wood Storage Racks Lumber Rack Wall Mount Wood Rack Organizer Wood Wall Storage System 3-Level, 120Lbs Load Capacity per Level, Indoor & Outdoor Use, Orange, 4 PackI have wanted lumber storage racks in my little garage workshop for some time now, but I’ve never put the time into researching any to make a decision. I came across these just by cruising through SAH Creatives items, wasting some time and having lots of fun. When I saw these metal lumber storage racks, I did some research on what features are best. These racks met all my needs.I wanted lumber racks that would be able to fold out of the way when I am not using them. It’s just a home woodshop and I don’t always have lumber laying around unless I am working on a project. The racks on this set are able to be un-pinned and fold down out of the way, thus eliminating the chance of running into an empty rack.I needed metal lumber racks that will also hold a decent load. Each shelf level will hold 120lbs., and so with three levels in a rack, each set of racks will hold up to 360lbs. That is more weight capacity than I will probably ever need, but I’m glad I have it, just in case.I wanted the same lumber rack system to be able to hold some smaller items for me too, instead of having different style garage racks or shelves. This lumber rack has small hooks that attach to the side of the arms where smaller items are able to be hung up. This has helped me begin to get some of the junk off the garage floor, I love it.I am happy I saw this metal lumber storage rack set and was able to order it. It looks good in its powder coated orange and it is working great too.

Nice
These are really good lumber racks. I like that the arms are orange in order to allow for better visibility. The racks I had before were black, which often blend in with the background so if the arm is down then it’s pretty easy to run into if you’re not paying attention.I also like that these stick out at a slight angle, which keeps the lumber from sliding off. The addition of holes toward the ends makes it really easy to add a bolt to further keep things from sliding off.The addition of the little hook pieces is also really nice so you can make the best use of the space without having to rig up your own little hooks.By and far, this is a much better lumber rack than most that I’ve seen available. There was a lot more thought put into the design, and I appreciate that.

Not heavy duty but a great value for the money
If you are looking for a place to store a few extra boards, pipes, pieces of interior trim….you will be super happy with this unit. The kit includes 4 of the shelving units making it a fantastic value for adding storage to your garage or basement. I do have a couple criticisms. The gauge of steel used is very thin. I think the advertised weight rating is a bit much. I also do not like the mounting system. It’s just a couple holes and some wood screws. I would highly recommend you drill new holes and upgrade to lag screws and washers if you intend to push the weight limits.

Good and sturdy, except for that one thing…
As other reviewers have noted, there was a design flaw in the top screw. It’s positioned too high, so that pin won’t set correctly. Here is a photo of my remedy, pretty hick, but it works. I just stuck a piece of wood in there.Nevertheless, I have bought a second set of these to completely solve my scrap wood storage obsession

Great shop solution for long and short term storage of project wood.
Easy to install, great that they fold away, I don’t use the added hooks, and these easily hold their rated weight. Good price and solid product. Recommend.

Works As Designed
These storage metal racks are well made and sturdy. The comes with three types of mounting hardware depending what one is going to attached them to. This product was well thought of and designed which comes with everything one needs to install them. This is a heavy duty rack system.

It was sooo close to being great, but missed it by half an inch.
Honestly, I love these racks, but the problem with the top retaining pin just ruined it. I fixed it by drilling a new mounting hole 1″ below the existing one. If they had placed their mounting hole a half inch lower, there wouldn’t be any problem.Essentially, the top hole to mount the rack to the wall is too high up and the pin which holds the rack in place doesn’t seat properly. It’s a easy fix, but shouldn’t be necessary.Other than that, I love these things. The fact that these arms fold downward rather than upward like a lot of the other lumber racks on SAH Creatives is a plus. The price is reasonable compared to other options but that one flaw just ruins it. If you are willing to make the small required modifications, I’d say go for it.

Not a bad unit, other than the design flaw
The rack itself is of a pretty decent gauge of metal, and should hold regular dry wood pretty well up to the height distance between the levels — except the top arms, which have the design flaw. Other reviewers have noted this as well, the top lag screw is placed to high, and that keeps the locking bolt from fitting properly into place on both notches of the supporting bar — it really only seats on one side. Technically, this could be a safety concern if the arm was fail, but so far it seems to be doing okay. The instructions were not super clear to me either about how the mounting bar was supposed to face or which direction was intended for the hook attachment holes, but I worked it out myself. I do not think I would recommend this unit until the design flaw gets fixed.

Working, but design is flawed
I have ranked the installation and assembly categories 2 and 3 stars respectively, but not because this was particularly difficult to put together, but because of a flaw in the design of the racks. I ordered two racks, installed the black support bars first as per the instructions, and then began to install the orange rack bars.On both racks the bottom two bars were simple and everything went as expected. However, on both top bars I had the same issue. I installed the bolt and nut through the holes of each bar. I then installed the pins through the holes of the black support bar but was unable to get them to seat properly. I inspected the mechanism to see if I could solve the problem. What I found was the top hole on the black bar was drilled too high causing the pin to rest on the screw rather than nest down into the slots of the bar like it should (and like it does on the lower 2 bars). It made the pin like a see-saw sitting on the screw. Fortunately, it still was low enough that it would still hold into the slots just enough to make it work. This is my reason for an overall 3 star rating instead of 2. Still, one would think this would have been tested before it was put on the market. It’s almost like the decided to upgrade the support screw to a bigger one and didn’t think to lower the pre-drilled hole to allow the pieces to fit.

Work well if you modify them some
These work pretty well, but first you have to make a modification to them. They include the mounting hardware but the top mounting screw hole is in the way of the top shelf pin. So there’s no way to latch it in place, making it useless. However, if you are willing to drill another hole slightly lower, then you can get it to work. I just don’t think the end user should have to do this. Where’s the QC? Also, you will want to use a wrench to tighten them down. The screw heads strip out pretty easily. But, be careful with how much you tighten them, it’s very easy to tighten too much and bend the mounting bar. I got these for a rolling lumber cart and for that they are working pretty well. I’m not over loading them so they are handling the boards just fine. The price was pretty good but I feel like you might get a better made product if you’re willing to spend a little more.

I’ve had better.
The racks are sturdy enough. My problem is I can’t help compare them to the ones I had for years (from Grizzly). These aren’t as sturdy as my Grizzly units, but they are similar. Also, the Grizzly model is cheaper-per-shelf. The one pro feature for these is the height. They are half the height of the Grizzly model so I’ll use them over my doorways in my shop. This will give me additional board storage. Otherwise, I think the Grizzly racks are better.

Defective design
These are pretty decent except for a bone head mistake in the design. There are 3 mounting holes, but the center to center distance between them is slightly different than the rack bars. The top hole protrudes into the space required for the locking pin so it doesn’t properly engage the rack bar. You have to either drill an additional mounting hole, use a thinner screw (pan head construction screw for example), or only put light items on the top. The price is pretty good so it may be worth the effort, but this sort of design flaw isn’t really forgivable. I also wouldn’t stack 360 pounds of stock on these unless its very evenly spread across 4 units. They are pretty nice otherwise, especially for storing wood trim.

They work but some modification needed
These racks seem pretty well built and they are very reasonably priced. My only issue was that the top mounting hole was too high and didn’t let the catch come down all the way to lock the arms out. I ended up drilling another hole to allow them to lock all the way.

Sturdy and does the job! Good storage flexibility
A must have for any woodworker, and great for garage organization. These are very sturdy and were easy to hang on the wall. Just make sure you are attaching them to studs. I love that the bars can fold down when not in use. And the hooks on the bottom are really handy for smaller objects. I hung extension cords from hooks. Great value and I would definitely buy these again.

Well made and designed
I haven’t installed these yet but intend to shortly in an effort to clean up my garage and better organize it. I did have a chance to put them together to see how they’d fit and I can say they are well made, easy to assemble and well designed. I specifically like the fact that the arms can easily be lowered parallel to the wall if you don’t need to use them thereby taking up less space. The shelves are supplied with all the necessary hardware including 3″ lag bolts to secure them to the wall. My intent it to take all the lumber I now have sitting on a couple saw horses taking up too much room on the garage floor and put them on these instead. I’m certain these are quite capable of handling the rated weight as long as they are secured to the wall using the lag bolts provided and screwed into a stud. Certainly worth getting if you are trying to free up space and get better organized like I am.
