High Quality
Purchased for a preschool classroom and it will last for years! This brand is well known, and this product didn’t let me down. Very high quality and durable. No flakey wood pieces here. No splintering pieces. Vibrant colors that will last. The pieces have already withstood arguing over, being thrown, tossed into bins, etc. They still look brand new.

Fun teaching gift for kids 4+
Nicely packaged for gift giving. We bought this for our 2 grand kids, who we watch 2 days a week. The 3 year old boy will need to grow into it. His almost 6 year old sister loved it and had fun playing for a while!Sturdy and nicely made.

Simple
Simple design but I was hoping they wouldn’t fit together for the wrong letters but a lot of them do. It does have game ideas on the back to keep kids interested. Also, I (i) is inchworm, how many kids know “inchworm” instead of something like “ice” or “ice cream” but the other characters are good, colorful and for the most part common.

Cool concept, bad execution
Cool concept, but somewhat economical execution. The material it is made of is cheap, thus, unfortunately, splinters( not critical, but still). Also, after some time( in our case – maybe 2-3 times) the paint started to chip off.. but these puzzles are fairly cheap and often go on sale, so if you wait for a discount time, it could be worth it. My son is generally into puzzles, we have A LOT, but he lost interest to these ones after the first time. Not because of it being difficult, but because he found it hard to make it hold together, since the quality of material is so low. And putting it together on the table is not making it better either. Generally, I would go for cardboard puzzles instead, not a win product for us.

Highly recommended
Melissa & Doug items are always highly rated in our home. We have triplets and they love all the learning and pretend play toys. This set is little finger friendly, it challenges their little minds while they learn.

Don’t fit together well
The pieces don’t fit together very well, and if they aren’t placed just right then pieces of the wood break off.

Kinda feel ripped off.
I ended up buying the alphabet and number puzzles pieces come to find they put card board on the bottom of each of them to make them look like they fill up to the top but all numbers and alphabet fit in one box I feel like they could sell those in one package.

Thin splintered wood pieces
Normally Melissa and Doug have quality wood puzzles and toys. This however was poor quality, cheap, thin wood. The box itself and almost all of the puzzle pieces had small pieces of splintered wood sticking out or pealing off. Not great for a small child’s puzzle/toy. Returned it.

Great educational and gift idea!
Our 4 and 3 yr old loves this set! We bought the counting and alphabet sets. They live lining them up and working them out. The puzzle pieces are cut so they only match their piece, which I loved that! Great gift idea too!

Letter missing
I got it for my 3 year old and she absolutely loves it. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I’m missing the letter X

Aggravated
Purchased for our grandson to learn his letters and put with sounds. who would have thought I would have to validate all letters were in the box. Missing letter M, and there were two letter Ks. Also, the sides of a couple of the letters were splintering. I seriously wouldn’t have expected this from a Melissa and Doug toy. I have requested a replacement, which I have to DRIVE to the UPS store, vs them picking up. will see how the quality of the replacement is, and provide an update.

This is exactly the quality I expected from Melissa and Doug.
I order this for my granddaughter, who just started kindergarten this year. I plan to use it to help her learn the alphabet. The puzzles sizes are perfect, they are thick, the colors / pictures are bright. They come in a wooden container. Great value for the money. Highly recommend. **update. My 3 – 5 year olds grand children enjoy playing with these puzzles. I’ve found it works better to only have a small number of puzzles out at one time. As the whole set can be over whelming when kids are just starting out. These are great!

Will they last?
I wasn’t sure whether I should give these a 3 star rating or a 4 star rating. I love Melissa and Doug toys, but this one was a bit of a disappointment. With something as simple as an alphabet puzzle, it can be hard to decide whether it was worth the money or not. I believe it was, only because I have a baby who may grow to like things like this. My daughter, who I bought this for, usually does. I bought this for her as a way to learn her letters better. She knows most, but isn’t quite sure about a few, and she loves puzzles. She didn’t really get into it, instead she uses the picture pieces for imaginative play. Which is totally fine with me, they’re getting use! Unfortunatly, after only having them for less than a month, the pictures are starting to fade already making me wonder if they will even last until my son is old enough to play with them.

Amazing!
It is just like in the picture! It is very amazing! I am so happy! My 3-year-old toddler is learning his Abc’s and he thinks we are playing a game! He grabs the puzzle set every day since I got it! He shouts out the letters and his little hands love to put the pieces together! I highly recommend if you want a safe game for your toddler to easily learn their letters and have fun!

Kid approved
I was skeptical about some of the reviews saying the were missing one or multiple letters but I went for it anyways and I had all letters. I definitely can see how it might not be super durable (you get what you pay for I suppose) but my 3 yo son loved it when I opened it today. Anytime I can get him learning while playing I take it as a win.

Nice little puzzles to help practice ABCs
Sturdy, jigsaw puzzle-type, interlocking letters and pictures allow the child to self-correct as the pieces only fit one way. A bit overpriced but they are wooden so they should last a long time.

Fun activity for child and their adult!
I gave this gift to a sweet 4 year old I had the opportunity to spend some time with when she & her dear parents were visiting from out of town. Not only was it fun for her, & educational too, it was fun for me to join in the game!

Great ABC Puzzle
We were looking for more ABC puzzles for our toddler. She loves the pictures and playing with the wooden pieces in various ways. If we direct her attention to only one or two at a time, she will match the letters and pictures. The pieces are more robust than we anticipated and not too difficult for her to connect. She also enjoys making little tents or stacks out of them and finds them fun because the shape/material is different than regular blocks or magnet tiles. The box is big which makes for easy cleanup. Pleasantly surprised with this purchase.

I’m not sure why but I thought these would be sturdier…or denser wood puzzle pieces 🤔 not so much.

Love that these are self correcting, my three year old learned letters and sounds fast
We have encountered only one problem with these and it is that several of the pieces have a little bit of the blue, red, yellow, etc on them so it makes it a little to easy to match them without really looking at the letters. I do appreciate the short “I” sound being “inch worm.” So many other alphabet toys have a long “I” sound like ice cream, which isn’t great for first learning phonics. I showed my 3 year old how to do these and helped him with them maybe 3 or 4 times. At first we did maybe 5 at a time. Now he does them on his own, all 26.

Falling apart before a child even touched them!
There are very pretty pictures on the puzzle pieces and they come in a nice box but when I was taking the pieces apart right out of the box, there were already falling apart. The backs of some of the pieces came apart before the child even touched them. I don’t see how these will last when a child actually plays with them repeatedly. I wouldn’t recommend.

Just eh…
One of the pieces came warped and won’t fit to its matching letter. I wish these had a unique fit for each letter so they’re sure to get it correct. Or at least matching colors unique to each pair. I don’t know..just wasn’t impressed.

Not the quality that I expected
This puzzle is not self correcting. A lot of the pieces are very similar and some that “fit” are very loose. So if you have a determined little one, most of them can fit together. Another thing that bothered me was “I” for Inchworm. That’s a caterpillar, my kid knows it’s a caterpillar. “I” is not the first letter in caterpillar. There are enough other simple words that start with “I” that could have been used.
